lyrics

Back in sixty seven I was treated like a fool
When my mother sent me off to Sunday school
I got fresh clothes and she parted my hair
Said go with your friend, he’s waiting out there

When we got to the church I was made to sit alone
On those hard, dark benches I lowered the tone
Surrounded by these sanctimonious riches
You’re top dog and I know who the bitch is

Hallelujah to the Lord They’re screaming to the ceiling
The sound of their voices was sending me reeling
Hallelujah to the Lord They’re screaming to the rafters
I don't believe in any happy ever afters

Then through the central aisle came a boy with a cross
Made of papier-mâché and dental floss
He wailed and cried and fell to his knees
The world had gone crazy I started to leave

Hallelujah to the Lord They’re screaming to the ceiling
He died for our Sins It was sending me reeling
Hallelujah to the Lord They’re screaming to the rafters
I’m not feeling any happy ever afters

They burned me with their eyes I withered on my seat
They offered me a piece of Jesus to eat
I made for the door and grabbed the handle
Never to return better light me a candle

about

Dreams Of Carnage Leicester, UK

Dreams of Carnage were formed in 1982 as a four piece comprising of Sid Noot (Steve Townsend) on vocals, Dave Metcalf on bass, Steve Cardoni on guitar and Tim Noonan on drums.
We re-formed about four years ago for a bit of fun and are still going. Steve left in 2015 and we managed to recruit the very talented John Gibb on guitar. We hope you enjoy the album.
